About FES Central Asia

A German non-profit political foundation, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is committed to the advancement of inclusive public policy through international dialogue, research, and education. Founded in 1925 and named after Friedrich Ebert, Germany’s first democratically elected president (1919–1925), FES is guided by the core values of freedom, justice, and solidarity, with strong roots in social democracy and the trade union movement.

 Since 2026, the FES Regional Office for Central Asia has been fostering dialogue and cooperation across the region. It facilitates the exchange of ideas, institutions, and individuals between Germany and Central Asian countries, thereby establishing platforms for discourse regarding the obstacles that determine the contemporary world. Its work focuses on key issues such as evolving geopolitical dynamics, strengthening Central Asian institutions and participation, tackling climate change, and shaping a fair and sustainable future of work in times of rapid economic transformation.
